Get Involved!

1. Get Informed and Stay Informed

Learn how recent changes in election laws and procedures have impacted election administration and security. Explore concerns related to electronic voting machines and how county-wide voting may complicate ballot reconciliation and recounts. Study your state’s Election Code and review poll worker and poll watcher training materials. Understanding the process equips you to speak knowledgeably and advocate effectively.

2. Join the Conversation

Participate in discussions about election systems and integrity. Join groups like Election Integrity Project (EIP) of Nueces County. Attend local meetings or virtual calls hosted by state and national organizations. Talk with friends and neighbors to raise awareness and encourage others to get involved.

3. Hold Elected Officials Accountable

From school board members to federal lawmakers, every elected official should hear from constituents about issues that matter. Familiarize yourself with election-related legislation at the state and federal levels. Reach out through phone calls, emails, or letters to express your views and advocate for fair and secure election policies.

4. Volunteer Locally

EIP of Nueces County welcomes volunteers for a variety of roles. Whether you have a few hours or a lot of time to give, your contribution matters. Consider helping as a poll worker or assisting with pre-election testing of voting equipment. Join a committee focused on legislation, voter roll maintenance, or events. You can also support fundraising or offer ideas for outreach and improvement.

5. Engage in Local Government

Attend city council, county commission, and school board meetings—especially since voting sites are often located in schools. Local decisions often shape how elections are conducted. Make your voice heard during public comment periods to advocate for election transparency and integrity.

6. Expand Your Influence

Your voice carries more weight than you may think. Share what you’re learning with friends, whether through email, social media, or casual conversations. Encourage others to write their elected officials or local news outlets. Sharing your advocacy efforts may inspire others to do the same.

7. Reach Five New People

Commit to engaging five individuals outside your usual social or political circle. Share your knowledge about the election process and help them understand how these systems affect everyone. Building bridges beyond like-minded groups helps grow awareness and strengthens civic engagement.

8. Educate the Next Generation

Young voters are often energized but may lack experience with how the election system works. Take time to explain the importance of transparency, accuracy, and integrity in voting. Encourage critical thinking and participation in the democratic process.

9. Understand Differing Perspectives

Learn about opposing views and strategies to better understand the broader debate around election policies. Studying various perspectives helps inform your approach, uncover potential weaknesses in systems, and identify areas where reform may be needed to uphold public trust.

10. Advocate for Change

Executive Order 14248 emphasizes improving access and integrity in U.S. elections. Contact your congressional representatives to express your views and encourage meaningful legislative action. Civic engagement is essential to shaping a system that is fair, accurate, and accountable to all voters.
